Color


"Red Dancer"

Cut Out in a momochromatic color scheme of red.
My inspiration for this piece came from the piece
pictured below by Henri Mattise, The Creole Dancer.
I originally intended for the Ballerina to be still in a
stationary pose, however as the piece evolved, I changed the
position of the torso, to a leaning position, thus adding movement.

“The story of Skábma is based on the Sámi mythology of The Celestial Hunt. The Celestial Bull Reindeer, Sarvvis, has been hunted through the ages by the Sons of Kalla from the constellation of Orion. In the game, a young Sámi child, Áilu, gets mixed up with this endless hunt and accidentally initiates the end of the world.“ Students have been working hard over the summer with various projects and internships. Elusive Matters: Pop-up exhibition

Interested in seeing what Alexandra Mitiku , Veera Nelimarkka,   Elina Pasanen and Anniina Pasanen have been working on this semester? In the first months, the girls have been learning about managing an exhibition, and since April, they have had the chance to create the artworks. Come and see the results! Last Friday they arraged a pop up –exhibition in Pyynikki’s Trikootehdas. If you didn’t have time to go see the works, fear not! The exhibition opens up again, this time at a cultural centre called Uulu, in 2.6. The exhibition opening will be held at 17-19. The exhibition will be in Uulu for three weeks, so if you cannot make it to the opening, there is a lot of time to go and visit the gallery later. Welcome!

International Week at Minerva Akadamie von Popkultuur (Leeuwarden)

Photo: Alexandra Mitiku  I arrived with Lavinia on a wet Tuesday morning in Leeuwarden. We were running late for the opening of the international week at Leeuwarden and managed to get slightly lost. Eventually we stumbled into the presentation room of Minerva Academie voor Popcultuur . My first impression of the school was how liberal they were, from discussions to interior design. Originally we were supposed to make only installations based on the environment, but we ended up joining another workshop ‘Future City planning’ and consequently our workshop description was a fusion of planning a future Leeuwarden and making an art installation.
